Christmas done.
New Year done.
Excitement move over, January blues move in?
After all the fun and festivities, you can plummet from the ultimate high to a very low.
But chin up, there 5 easy things you can do to feel great today!
1. Exercise
The best way not to feel down, is to get up and exercise! Even a 15-minute walk can activate neurotransmitters, that will make you feel better.
2. Embrace the Slow Pace
What’s wrong with a bit of a change? After all the noise and running around, embrace the slow pace of winter. Spend time with your family and friends indoors, play games, watch films. Outdoors, wrap up warm, and go nature hunting - there's more than meets the eye. Take the time to plan for spring or even the entire year. Don’t fight it. Discover the positive thing about the season and embrace it.
3. Try Meditation
I'm not a big meditator but from time to time I do dive into a little audio guide and enjoy the peace it brings. Meditation can help you relax, sleep better, and function better.
4. Regulate Your Diet
Your mind and your gut are interconnected. After all the rich delicious food you may have enjoyed during Christmas dishes, it’s time for a change of pace. Enjoy fresh food, food from all the colours of the rainbow. Invest in foods that won’t slow you down, but pick you up.
5. Laughter
Don't forget the power of laughter! Honestly and wholeheartedly laughing out loud? Watch your favourite comedy, read a funny book and surround yourself with fun people!
Be Grateful
When you feel your mind becoming down just grab 'the roller shutter' from the top of your mind and pull it down closed. Then switch your thoughts to gratitude. Think of each and everything you're grateful for. You'll start to feel great!
Life’s too short to be down and blues.
Be kind to yourself, stay positive, you're amazing!
