How and Why to Cleanse and Tone Your Skin

You! Crystal clear, radiant skin?

You wake up in the morning, hop out of bed like a 5-year old on Christmas morning, skip into the bathroom, check your face and 'wow' your skin is clear, radiant almost 'popping', 'fizzing' with life!

Dream or reality?

Well, no matter whether you are one of the lucky ones with natural, crystal clear, radiant skin or you have to constantly battle spots, redness, oil or more, a proper skincare routine is essential.

Our faces are constantly subjected to dirt, bacteria, chemicals, sweat, makeup, dying cells and more just living our lives day to day. Imagine trying to see through windows covered in all the 'grime'! In some ways trying to see your lovely face under all that 'grime' is the same!

So, be sure to clear and tone your face every morning and evening to give it the best chance to 'shine'!

So what do you need and how do you do it?

Well, frankly there are a number of different ways to cleanse and tone and they all have their own merits. What's important is finding what suits you best. So here's a great place to begin:

  1. Warm Water: Soak your face with warm water (not too hot), ensuring that all areas of the skin are wet. And be careful the water isn't too hot as hot water can damage and dehydrate your delicate facial skin.

  2. Cleanse: Apply a small amount of cleanser to your skin and use your fingers to gently massage the cleanser into your face in a circular motion. Avoid your mouth and eye areas. Continue cleansing for about 30 seconds and then rinse thoroughly with warm water.

  3. Dry: Pat your face dry with a clean soft towel to gently blot away the water. Be careful not too rub your face as that can harm and thin delicate skin. And make sure your towel is clean! A dirty towel will certainly transfer dirt and bacteria onto your face and we don't want that!

  4. Tone: Soak a cotton pad with toner and squeeze out the excess liquid. Pat the toner-soaked cotton pad across your face. If your forehead, nose and chin are prone to be oily pay extra attention there and always be sure to avoid your mouth and eye areas. Don't be tempted to skip this step!  Toner helps removes unwanted residues like chlorine and minerals in tap water  and helps skin retain moisture.

And then of course move onto your usual routine with serum, eye gel, moisturiser.

Even better, after over a year in the making my NEW cleanser and NEW toner are going finally available!

I'm not sure I've ever put so much effort into anything before!
