Your Skincare Routine Made Simple

One of the most common questions I see is when should you apply certain products. Should you apply the serum before or after the eye cream? Should you apply the moisturisers before or after sunscreen?

Reading your comments, emails and more, I get a great insight into what your concerns are, and what you’re confused by.

It's clear that there is a huge range of knowledge and experience with skincare. Some are just beginning their skincare journey at 60, while some have been right on track for 30 years or more.

Let's see if I can help:

MORNING ROUTINE

Cleanse
Remove your makeup and cleanse your face. Remove all the impurities and toxins and create a fresh clean surface for all the lovely products you’re about to put on your skin. We recommend trying out our Crystal Cleanser, which is free from parabens, sulfates and is cruelty-free.

Tone
Tap in toner after cleansing to prep your skin what’s coming next. There are a variety of different toners that guarantee different or targeted benefits. Some are designed so that they aid in preventing breakouts, others can add an additional boost of hydration to your face. You can see our Diamond Toner here.

Serum
We’ve recently talked about the importance of serums in your routine, so I’ll link that blog right here. I like to think of them as the heavy lifters in the skincare routine. Packed with a high concentration of ingredients that do wonders for your skin, serum is something you should incorporate as soon as possible. The benefits will make you so happy. Our Pre-Eminent Beauty Serum has over 1,223 great reviews at the time of writing.

Eye Gel
The consistency of an eye product is light. And the rule in skincare is, start with light and end with heavy. Because eye products are usually lighter than oils and a moisturiser, it’s crucial to apply this first and then move on with the rest.

Targeted Treatment(s)
If you’re spot treating acne, blemishes or even rosacea, make sure that this is done before applying a moisturiser so the treatment can penetrate through your skin and work its magic. For these kinds of challenges, this is a great spot to add in our Organic Hydration Gel (and then keep it handy all day for an instant moisture boost when needed!).

Moisturise
Not only does it hydrate your skin, but it also serves as a seal to keep in all the products you’ve applied prior. We recommend you try out our Imperial Moisturiser.

Sun Screen
Last should be sunscreen. The reason for this is, obviously ultimate protection. Another reason is that sunscreen isn’t designed to penetrate your skin, like other ingredients are.

NIGHT ROUTINE

Your night and morning routine only differ in the two last steps.

Night Cream Rather than Moisturiser
A heavier, even more nourishing moisturiser such as our Night Elixir

Sunscreen
Unless you're lucky enough to be taking your 'night-time' sleep on a lounger under the sun then you probably won't need sunscreen in the dark!

Let’s not forget one crucial thing - your personal skincare regimen is YOUR PERSONAL skincare regimen. It can be as extensive or simplified as you want it to be. It can be designed and tailored to cater to your personal needs and desires. Whether you take out or maybe even add some steps, are completely up to!

If you’re a beginner, yes, skincare can be hard. I understand it. But it’s one of those things in life where if you commit, you’ll reap such satisfying benefits.

Have an amazing day,

Tracey x
